Trip to Penang

after a long, exhausting, unappreciated year of free labor and community service to a bunch of whining and grumbling fools, it is time for some holiday! but even during holiday i must make myself available to answer calls and queries. Pathetic. I solemnly swear that during this remaining year my me not having committed to anything yet to not committing to any free labor and community service. The remaining golden year should be a year for me to enjoy. Hopefully.

so off i go to penang, spending more time in Butterworth than on the island.

People say you go to Penang for the food. I cannot agree more. The bitches, opps, beaches were horrible with the sea water yellow in color! So what else are there to do than to eat?
Penang, here i come!!!!

However, i am not a fan to spicy plus sour food so most of the local delicacies seems out to me.

At the food haven of Jalan Raja Uda, i found out that most of the food are mediocre. They are of normal taste, meaning they are very much edible. The good news, however, is a serving only cost you RM 2.50/3.00. The bad news is, it is so small that you have to order two or more serving to satisfy your stomach. but then again, if you wanna try some variety of food, the minuscule serving serves you best.

The foods, of course, there will be a few reviews later. So we shall go to some places of interest then.
this at around Queens Bay Mall

There are a few places, first of all the war museum. However, it cost RM 15 per entry and that was deemed too much so we gave it a miss. So do a bird park on the mainland. And obviously, it was given a miss.

Then there is this Kek Lok Si Temple, an over commercialized temple. Quite a sight, with all the tourists' money gushing in.

I think the best place to be in Penang is the Toy Museum. With so many toys around, that is the place to go, with only RM 10 per entry. However, the owner seems to be not liking teddy bear so much, having only a few in it.

this kinda small museum is touted as world largest....
i am spiderman....almost...
grrrrrr.................... wow.............

Oh yea, there is an AutoCity lying around on the mainland. AutoCity is primarily a place to be if you happen to be buying a car. But some brilliant guys had some brilliant idea to transform it into a happening area with all the eateries and clubbing joints there. So spend your day choosing a car, then unwind by having a few pints of beers and a dance there. Oh by the way, there is few boutiques with nice clothes such as a stall called Imei and another place where branded items are sold cheap. And every weekend, AutoCity transformed into a fashion haven. Have a look when you go there!
this thing from the weekend AutoCity fashion pasar malam
this from Imei

The Pesta Penang? Totally forgettable. To hell with it. Just don't know why people plunged there every night causing the bridge to jam. Maybe they see something i don't. No offense.

Penang by and large is a good place to be. People are, well, Penangites. And all Malaysian road users suck. Seen enough from KL to Penang, all around North-South Highway. Crazy drivers, crazy rider, even pedestrians suck.

one of the sucker is this double parking bitch

Let's Go Check Groceries Prices at Government Website

No shit. Now we can check groceries prices on Ministry for Consumer Affairs' website (see here). It seems the ministry sent some people out to survey the price. A quick check shows that, however, only limited places are covered. Which means probably the area of your house are not covered. My house however, is covered, so i got to know which hypermarket (meaning Carrefour, Jusco, Tesco etc, not Ah Chong Groceries) is having the lowest price. Hehehe.. the limited coverage however is a good start towards spending my tax money a bit wisely.

However, as I was about to shout here that finally someone in the ministry got it right, the Malay Mail reported yesterday that the according to the price surveyed, some same Hypermarket in different states have different price for the same item. The next day, some hypermarkets retorted saying the Ministry got it wrong. Carrefour and Tesco said their prices are the same throughout Peninsular Malaysia while Giant maintain the differences are normal (aiyo, you know lar..those logistic cost, purchasing cost etc).

When contacted, the Minister, Sharir admitted that the differences may be due to human error. He asked for more partcipation from the hypermarkets.

Aiyo, Tesco and Carrefour, if the website really got it wrong, just go tell them where...Is it so hard?

Anyway, the move was a good one. Now we can go online and check before deciding which hypermarket to go. Especially when aroung my house has around 5 or 6 of them, which are, let me count, Jusco, Carrefour, Mydin, Tesco, Giant, Parkson (does it count?), Cold Storage...man i lost count.

Why does this post looks like something i would post in amethyst boy says...? Dunno, maybe i just wanted my friends who are not looking there to know about this. Afterall good news should be shared right?

Danger....snatch thief ahead...

While i was clicking the camera away in Kajang, i saw this;

What is that? No, it is not the tree (which had obviously taken the central focal point) but the sign board. Still cannot see? what about this?

Savvy? Apparently, things got so dangerous that there is a sign board for "beware of snatch THEFTS"? What the fuck? The MPKJ cannot spell? It should be "snatch THIEF/THIEVES" right? Hopefully they got the telephone number right.

So next time when you are walking there, make sure you keep your handphone inside your pocket but not handbag so that you can still call the police after the snatch THIEF (MPKJ, get it right already) snatched your handbag. Oh wait, get a torch light too since normally you will get snatched at night as well!

Oh yea, do you realize what is on the bottom of the sign? Let you see again;

Yea, damn fucking right. There is not only one but TWO fucking "Along" advertisements down there. Talk about safety huh...

Quote of the Day

Falling Leaves quote of the day;

"Early bird catches the worm....
Early worm caught by the bird...."

Explanation:

This is just a cheeky retort for those who does not want to wake up. However, come to think of it, there is a little truth behind the aforementioned modified quote. Now when we "wake up early", for simplicity sake, let us just assume that means taking positive action. When we take action, we either "catch the worm" (getting some benefits or success) or we get eaten up by the bird. There is always danger when we stick out.

On the other hand, if you just wake up late, nothing will really happen. You won't get any worms nor will you get eaten. You won't die of staving as there will be grains beside the road for you to eat. But you have to go vegetarian and no meat for you.

Everything has a give and take. You go out, it is either you climbed out or screw up. But Purple Leaves wanted to say that even if you screw up, there is still tomorrow. Wake up even earlier and hopefully, there are worms for you.

Or if you prefer vegetable, by all means lie low and wake up late. Not a crime if you ask me.

Just don't be a thief who steal others' worms or grains. ^v*
